Press Release

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Katie Porter (CA-45) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to fund the government and avoid another government shutdown:

“Tonight, I voted to support a bipartisan agreement that funds the government, avoids another needless shutdown, and promotes smart border security, while staying true to our values.

“This bill represents a consensus of both Democrats and Republicans, as well as an understanding that shutting down the government is bad for our federal workers and bad for our economy. Although this package does not contain everything I would have wanted, I will support this compromise to give our federal families some much-needed certainty.

“I’m glad that Congress can now focus on tackling the pressing issues that the American people sent us to Washington to handle. Let’s get to work.”
