Submissions for the 2023 Congressional App Challenge will reopen in the fall.
The office of Congresswoman Katie Porter is pleased to announce the Congressional App Challenge, a competition designed to encourage student participation in computer science and coding. Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, this nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating and an app for mobile, tablet, or computer devices. The Challenge is designed to promote innovation and engagement in coding and computer science. The Congressional App Challenge allows middle and high school students to compete with their district peers by creating and exhibiting their apps for any platform of their choice. We accept apps written in any programming language.

The Congressional App Challenge is open to all students in the California's 47th Congressional District. Submissions will be judged on the following criteria: quality of the idea, including creativity and originality; implementation of the idea, including user experience and design; and demonstrated excellence of coding and programming skills. The winner from CA-47, chosen by a panel of expert judges, will be featured on CongressionalAppChallenge.us, and the winning app will also be on display in the U.S. Capitol, honoring the winners from across the country.
