Congresswoman Katie Porter (CA-45) today released the following statement expressing support for a veterans cemetery located at Gypsum Canyon in Anaheim Hills, a site located within California’s 45th Congressional District: “We have a responsibility to do right by our service members and military families,” said Rep. Katie Porter. “The bare minimum we can do for our veterans, who have made tremendous sacrifices for our country, is to give them a final resting place here in our community. We ought to begin construction on a veterans cemetery as soon as possible, and the Gypsum Canyon site in Anaheim Hills is our most viable option. Let's get this done.” Porter has fought to honor our nation’s veterans, servicemembers, and military families throughout her time in Congress. In August, she released a comprehensive report detailing how predatory lenders target military borrowers. During her first year in office, she successfully fought for legislation to better protect servicemembers from retaliation when they report issues in private housing. She also secured language signed into law that studies online exploitation of servicemembers and their families by predatory lenders, for-profit colleges, and health care providers. ### |
