Congresswoman Katie Porter is seeking talented high school and college students with community experience living in the 47th Congressional District to participate in her six-month public service program.
As a student-driven board, each youth adviser is required to organize as a cohort and meet with the Congresswoman or her team at least once a month to discuss legislation on a wide variety of policy areas including infrastructure, gun violence prevention, homelessness, tax reform, foreign policy, and more.
At the end of each meeting, the Youth Advisory Board will compile a board report to make their legislative recommendations to the Congresswoman.
Meetings are regularly held on the last Friday of every month (unless stated otherwise). There are six officially-scheduled meetings per term. When applying, please ensure that you can commit to these dates:
- January 27, 2023
- February 24, 2023
- March 31, 2023
- April 28, 2023
- May 26, 2023
- June 30, 2023
The application for the seventh cohort is currently closed. Applications for the eighth cohort will reopen in May. Qualified applicants with demonstrated experience supporting their local communities will be invited for an interview.
