THURSDAY: Rep. Katie Porter to Host Post Office Naming Ceremony for Orange County Tuskegee Airman

Congresswoman, joined by veteran’s family, will honor the late Lieutenant Colonel Robert J. Friend at his local post office

IRVINE—On Thursday, August 25, Congresswoman Katie Porter (D-CA) will host a ceremony celebrating the naming of a local post office for longtime Orange County resident Lieutenant Colonel Robert J. Friend, one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, who took to the skies during World War II as the first African-American military aviators. Lt. Col. Friend passed away in 2019, and Rep. Porter has been working to honor his memory.
