Dear Neighbor,

I am writing to update you on my work to support the Iranian people. Since the killing of Mahsa Amini, the Iranian regime has doubled down on its ruthless assault on basic civil liberties. Further, Iran remains a national security threat, funding terrorist organizations in the Middle East, such as Hamas and Hezbollah. I’ve spent the past year continuing my work to curb the Iranian regime’s influence.

Recently, I led two key amendments to the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act, which passed the House with wide bipartisan support. Together, my amendments will not only push the Biden Administration toward a more integrated Iran policy, but will also help the U.S. better understand the threat Iran poses to both its own citizens and regional stability. 

• My first amendment requires the U.S. government to study and report on Iranian internet censorship. This will help the United States to better understand and respond to the daily oppression that Iranians experience. 

• My second amendment requires the President to issue a report to Congress on his Administration's Iran policy related to human rights, nuclear proliferation, the ballistic missile program, and regional terrorism. This will help lawmakers develop better policy that addresses the challenges in the region.

As your Congresswoman, I have fought for the change and accountability that the Iranian people deserve. I spoke on the House floor to denounce Iran for poisoning young women and girls for going to school. I also called on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization. The Iranian regime threatens not only its own citizens, but also global stability.  

I am proud to represent such a vibrant Iranian-American community here in Orange County. I will continue to amplify its concerns and work to curb the Iranian regime’s dangerous influence.
